My friend Lesley just visited from Toronto. She's a Canadian that loves California (a lot). 4 annual vacations later, however, one thing remains true to her heart. Canadian Club whisky.
Apparently, Canadian Club was considered the unofficial whisky of prohibition. In 1920, the 18th Amendment was alive and well prohibiting the manufacture, sale, transport, import or export of alcoholic beverages in the U.S. No such law existed just over the border in Canada, so Canadian Club became one of North America's best selling whiskies and a particular favorite of some of Chicago's most notorious gangsters.
