254/365 - Buckingham Palace

On Sept 9, I went INSIDE Buckingham Palace for the very first time. During August and September annually, the Palace's State Rooms are open to visitors. This is because Her Majesty The Queen is away to Scotland. These nineteen State Rooms are used extensively by The Queen and Members of the Royal Family to entertain their guests on State, ceremonial and official occasions.

I would love to show you what I saw, but no pictures are allowed since it's a thriving, working royal palace (one of few remaining in the world today). A snippet of what my eyes took in: paintings by Rembrandt and Rubens; sculpture by Canova; exquisite examples of Sèvres porcelain; and some of the finest English and French furniture. It was elaborate, stunning and full of history. I loved the rich colors, the intimate details, that royal flair. After it was done, you depart through the Palace Gardens. Beautiful.
